For 24 years, nursing was my life. It wasn’t just a career; it was my calling—a passion born from a desire to care, heal, and make a difference in the lives of others. I gave it everything I had, pouring my heart and soul into each patient and team I served. But sometimes, even the most heartfelt commitments face challenges that shift our paths. When I found myself in a situation where continuing in nursing in that capacity was no longer sustainable, I made the difficult decision to step away.
Leaving nursing in that role was one of the hardest choices I’ve ever made. I felt like I was saying goodbye to a part of myself—a chapter of my life that had defined me for so long. I mourned the loss of the connections, the purpose, and the identity I had built within that world. It wasn’t just a job; it was who I was. Walking away left me questioning my worth and my direction.
But in the midst of the sadness, something remarkable happened. A spark of inspiration began to grow—a spark that would lead to the creation of Allure Crown & Glory LLC, a beauty supply business that represents not only a new chapter but a new mission.
The Healing Power of Reinvention
Starting a beauty business might seem like a world away from nursing, but at its core, it’s still about care. It’s about helping people feel good about themselves, building confidence, and creating a space where everyone—no matter their background—feels valued and beautiful. Allure Crown & Glory was born out of a need I saw when I moved from California to a community where beauty products for Black families were scarce. What started as an idea to fill that gap quickly became a passion for creating a place where people could find inspiration, empowerment, and self-expression.
But stepping into entrepreneurship hasn’t been easy. I’ve had to confront self-doubt, face new challenges, and redefine my identity as a leader in a completely different industry. There have been moments of fear, of questioning whether I was making the right choice. But through it all, one thing has kept me grounded: the love and support of my family, friends, and my new team.
A Village of Strength
If there’s one thing I’ve learned through this transition, it’s that no one succeeds alone. My husband, children, and friends have been my rock, encouraging me when the weight of starting over felt too heavy. My new team at Allure Crown & Glory has brought fresh energy and excitement into my life, reminding me that leadership is not tied to a single career—it’s about uplifting and empowering others, no matter the setting.
Their belief in our mission has inspired me to keep going, even on the hard days. Together, we’re creating something special—a space where every customer feels welcome, every stylist feels valued, and every product is a step toward celebrating individuality and self-love.
Finding Time for Self-Care
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned during this journey is the importance of taking care of myself. For so many years, I poured every ounce of energy into my work, often neglecting my own needs in the process. Now, I’m learning that self-care isn’t selfish—it’s necessary.
I’ve started working out regularly, fueling my body with better choices, and surrounding myself with people who lift me up. These small changes have made a world of difference in my mental and emotional health. They’ve allowed me to approach this new chapter with clarity, strength, and an open heart.
